I bought this manga not too long ago and I finally finished reading the first volume. Pet shop of horrors is about this pet shop owner named Count D that sells from cats and dogs to mystical creatures . The interesting thing about him is that he will only set up shop in the Chinatown of the city he occupies. I had seen the OVA about 7 - 8 years ago and I liked it and I wanted the read the original manga but it is so hard to find. However, I found the sequel which I'm ok with because it's still good. The thing about this manga that each chapter is a different story with different characters. I don't want to spoil the manga but the endings of each story has a sad but filling ending that makes you think. The thing I like about the manga is that if there is a story that suck, you can always look forward for the next one. The one thing I don't like is that if you don't pay attention to detail and by what I mean detail, you have to look and remember at every little minor thing to sometimes understand the story. I recommend this title to whoever wants to read a manga with good stories and great artwork.

Oooh I've been meaning to read this, and reading your review makes me think of Tarot cafe, a magical shop that basically tells a different story every time (of her customers) I'll have to read into Pet shop of horrors soon ^_^
This is extremely belated.. however, if you can get ahold of the first series it does have a humour thread in it. It has that moralistic/dark twist that the Tokyo version has but it does have it's humour moments. I am an avid fan of the first series. ^_^
