In the vast world of anime figure collecting, male figures are a minority. finding out a male anime figure is being released is like seeing a picture of big foot, you think it's cool but you doubt it is real.
I think that male figures are not that popular is because the figure companies know that they will not make a profit. So, was they do is that they make statues or cold cast figures and sell them at a very expensive price at a limited supply. The only male figures that will sell at bishounen characters or Kamina from Gurren Lagann.
I have been seeing in the last 2 years a trend of male figures being made of older characters like Seiya, the guys from Fist of the North Star, Cobra, and the guys from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It seems that these figures are being made because of the nostalgic value to them.
The figures in the Picture above are the only male Figures I have. I only bought the one in the middle while the other two I got them for free. What are your thoughts on male anime figures?

i do want the kamina figure but then again, not only is he hard to get, he's freaking expensive too. >.<
I've got a few male figures; Kamina, Lelouch, Suzaku, Kyon, (do figmas really count?) Kaneda from Akira, Jun Planning's Huge Ryuk, Kotobukiya's Shinji/Kawrou set, GunXSword's Van, and Cowboy bebop's spike. But i agree male figures are few and far in between. it's not so much that the figure companies won't make a profit even though that is a reason why, but also that a guy is more willing to buy a figure of a cute girl than a badass guy. and sadly not enough girls are like me and collect figures, the majority of figure collectors are male so the figure companies are selling to their main crowd, men. and what do men like? Women! Most male figures are either gashapons or action figures like the revoltech line of the figma line. I just wish that figure co[panies would make more male figures, even for kamina and simon who are so popular from Gurren Lagann, out of the 14 yoko PVC figures that are either out or being made, only one Kamina has been made and no Simon has been made. Look at the huge amount of Asuka and REi figures from eva, and compare it to the amount of Shinji figures there are. Figure companies get that guys are much more willing to have tons of rei figrues in their collection compared to tons of shinji figures... it's the sad truth but i just hope that more people will support the male figures when they are made and buy them, to maybe send a message that male figures are worth making!
There isn't many male figures I own. In male figure wise...I have around 5 male figures...
Usually people collect female figures since most figures in the market are female characters...since most of the people who collect figures are males...there are female collectors, it's just that there isn't many male figures out there...
I know what you mean, like those Berserk figures selling more than 300USD. . .
I got mostly Taguinu no Chi figures, my recent male figures I just got were Sebastian & his master, Ciel, from Kuroshitsuji.
what's the demographic like for figure collectors?
@ K -The demographic is primarily male. Typically men (ESPECIALLY men in Japan) don't buy male figures. I read an article once where a Figure Company representative commented on this difference in Japan and the US. Figures of manly men sell real well in the US but not Japan. The article was in one of my anime anime magazines and I can't remember which (Newtype USA, Anime Insider, or Protoculture Addicts).
I buy as many male figures as I can find (if I know the character). From One Piece I have Sanji, Usopp, Zoro, Luffy, Chopper, and Franky. I have Sanzo on the way. I have all the men figmas too.
Kamina action figure WANT. I don't mind male figures and I think there should be more on the market, it's kind of stupid that there are so few, but it makes sense as most guys don't want them. I'd only get a male figure if the character is really cool and one that I like, so far I only have Len Kagamine, though I do plan on figma Lelouche one of these days. I agree there needs to be a Simon figure. My female figures could use some male companions, Yoko just seems lonely without Kamina.
Male figures ftw. The figure-making world must be real male-dominated if all they ever figgify is the females. The only male figs I seriously knew existed were the various Pokémon Satoshi ones, the Takeshis and Kojiros from same, and the Final Fantasy ones.
I wouldn't mind getting the Max Factory Kiritsugu Emiya, but that won't work unless if I get Zero Saber as well...Saving up is hard.
On the topic of figures, I wouldn't mind some of the DC Comic WoW action figures, even though they're not anime figures and I stopped playing WoW some of them still look cool enough for me to want. I'd have bought the new Blood Elf Paladin if the face wasn't so badly designed. Still thinking if I should buy the Gnome warrior with mechanostrider.
The world needs more male figures. I only have 3 and they're trading figures. :< As much as I love cute girls I want some cute dudes too.
My only male figure is Kagamine Len Nendo... lol and I won't be collecting male figure unless there is a special case, like this Rin & Len pairing... xD
Male figures are not MOE so I only buy female figures... xD
Not cute at all :p
The only ones i'll be buying are the males figures from samurai champloo ^^
I have a friend who is bothered by the fact that it's really hard to find male figures. I guess he would like the Kinikuman figure you've got there, and he also like those crazily expensive Berserk figures too.
