Yesterday, I got my Adsense check for the month and I went out to buy a copy of Anime Insider and Otaku USA. When I finally got home, I decided to visit Anime News Network and I saw the saddest ever, Anime Insider is ending its publication after 8 years.
I'm actually surprised that Anime Insider is ending it's publication because it is the number 1 anime magazine in the United States, it has great articles, and a low price of $4.99 USD. Wizard Entertainment is the company behind Anime Insider and they have not given a reason why it is ending publication, I suspect that it is economic related. It was about a year ago when Newtype USA died because economic reasons.
The last anime magazine around is Otaku USA and I'm hoping that this magazine survives the coming ages. Right now, the U.S. anime industry is not looking pretty right about now and it worries me. So, what do you think of this matter?

it definitely is a depressing situation. i was hoping for myself to go get an issue of anime insider to check it out since i had heard it was by far greater than any other anime magazine in the usa. But so much for that i ended up picking up otaku usa and hopefully but uncertainly hope that magazine continues to run.
1. Newtype USA was making profit for ADV, if I recall. There's always a market for the expensive if you target the right audience and provide the right content.
2. Anime Insider never had good articles. It was an awful weaboo Narutard magazine.
Man that sucks! I even picked up an issue on the news stand today!
Man...I hope they give me my money back. I renewed the subscription for 1 or 2 years when they sent out a notification saying prices were going up soon.
Hey, Protoculture Addicts is still alive. Though I've been waiting for my first magazine after subscribing like five months ago...
protoculture addicts and otaku usa are like the only anime magazines left in the usa. are there any others left and which one would be the best one to get anyways?
That's annoying as I didn't know this and sent in a subscription in the beginning March and have heard nothing-not even a note saying I get my money back.....growl.!
i just learned this today!
i wanna cry!
i enjoyed reading A.I.!
it made me happy lots!
Wizard actually advertised for the next issue of anime insider in the last issue and gave no hint that they were canceling it. That kind of thing makes me very mad. Anyway RIP Anime Insider.
