Kararu-chan Loves Yaoi
Beautiful boy on beautiful boy + romance = the perfect combination for good yaoi.
Junjou Romantica

I have two yaoi Anime shows that I love: Junjou Romantica and Loveless. Junjou Romantica has a very sweet brightness to it. It has a lot of comedy and is enjoyable to watch anytime of the day. It's one of those romances that I am in the mood for all the time. Loveless on the other hand, as gorgeous as it is, I have to be in the mood to watch it.
Loveless has a more darker feel to it. It has a certain type of romance. And while in Junjou Romantica the men are all adults, in Loveless it is a complicated love story between a man and a young boy who is in his last year of elementary school.
There is one major couple that the story is about in Junjou Romantica, but it also has a few other relationships that coincide with the main one all throughout the series.
The art work is interesting to note in Junjou Romantica. The grown men that are seme have a stronger jaw and are taller than the uke men that have pointed chins, and are a bit shorter with a cuteness to them that makes them very adorable uke. The eyes are also wider on the uke and the eyes are smaller on the seme.
The artwork in Loveless is breath taking to me. It has this feel to it that just makes me want to look at it all day and night for longer than I should.
The main couple in Junjou Romantica is Misaki Takahashi(uke) and Akihiko Usami(seme). (Look to the first picture of the post. Misaki is the brunette and Akihiko is the white haired man.)
In Loveless, the couple is Soubi Agatsuma(seme/grown man) and Ritsuka Aoyagi(uke/young boy):

Ritsuka

Now to the plot lines of these two beautiful Anime that I adore so much.
First Junjou Romantica: Misaki first starts out with Akihiko being his tutor. Akihiko is famous for writing novels. He also secretly writes and publishes his yaoi fantasies. His yaoi fantasies are first about him and Misaki's older brother whom he loved first. Then after Akihiko falls in love with Misaki (they end up havinge to live together) he begins writing his fantasy novels about himself being with Misaki. Misaki on the other hand can't stand it.
The story follows them living together and how their relationship deepens. The story thickens when Akihiko's brother meets Misaki. Misaki got angry at Akihiko's brother, Haruhiko, and he yelled at him. Being that Misaki is the first person to ever stand up to Haruhiko like that, Haruhiko decides that he is in love with Misaki. This only makes Akihiko mad at his brother. The story continues on like this with small twists that test the strength of Akihiko's and Misaki's love for each other. There are about 3 smaller yaoi relationships portrayed in this Anime that creates a little web of sorts that shows they are all related to each other in comedic ways. It really all circulates around Akihiko.
Now about Loveless. This story is complicated. Two years before the Anime starts the "real Ritsuka" disappears and a "new, fake Ritsuka" emerges. As the story plays out, you learn that Ritsuka's mother ends up going crazy wanting to know what happened to her son, the "real Ritsuka". For the two years before this story starts, Seimei, Ritsuka's older brother, helps him stay safe. Their mother would test him to see if her Ritsuka came back or if the fake Ritsuka is still there. If he did something the "real Ritsuka" wouldn't do, she would beat him. Unfortunately, Seimei dies at the beginning of the Anime.
That is just the "first page" of this story. The real twist is when Ritsuka learns that Seimei was a sacrifice for the fighter Soubi. A sacrifice and a fighter are two people with the same "real name" who fight other fighters and sacrifices with word spells. The first thing that is noticed in the beginning is when Ritsuka speaks of Seimei's real name, Beloved. Seimei and Soubi shared that name. First, before Seimei dies, he tells Ritsuka of his real name, Loveless (One without love). Then after Ritsuka meets Soubi, Soubi retells Ritsuka his real name, Loveless. Ritsuka is a sacrifice and does not end up finding his fighter with the same name like he should. Soubi ends up being his fighter, even though they do not share the same name as they should. The story goes on to show how Soubi and Ritsuka become closer. Their relationship is strange. It's hard to tell if there really is any love between them; however, one can tell that they do have feelings of sorts for each other. It's really a very angsty, dark romance story that has weird twists that are a little tricky to decipher.
One more thing to note in Loveless is that the young kids who still have their animal ears means that they are virgins. People who have shed their animal ears are adults who no longer have their virginity.
To tell the rest of the Lovesless story would take about another 5 paragraphs, so I'll stop here. Anyway, those two yaoi Anime are my absolute favorite. I would love to go into more detail in the various yaoi Manga and yaoi Fanfiction I love, but alas, it appears that would be too much. I'll save the rest of that for another post in the future.
Sincerely,
Kararu-chan
