Otaku Dan: The Life of an Anime Fan

Today is Shinkai Day, a day to celebrate the famous anime director, Makoto Shinkai and his work. Fans of Mr. Shinkai are all gathering worldwide in the internet on the unofficial English-language fansite, Cherry Blossoms Falling.


The unofficial Chinese-language fansite will be showcasing fan-made short films inspired by Mr. Shinkai's works. The Unofficial Japanese-language fansite will be participating as well.

Over at Crunchy Roll, they will be streaming for free Mr. Shinkai's Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, and 5 Centimeters Per Second. Voices of a Distant Star and The Place Promised in Our Early Days will be subtitled and 5 Centimeters Per Second will be available with Subtitles and dubbed in the Bandai version of the English dub. I think that the ADV dubbing of 5 Centimeters is a little better.

So, do you want learn how to get yourself banned from Xbox live. Is it trolling, no everyone does that, hacking, that's child's play. Wait! I know, just identify yourself as a gay or a lesbian and you will be banned in a matter of minutes. A young woman that goes by the name of Teresa(she did not give a last name)was banned from Xbox live because identified herself as a lesbian on her profile. Whats f*cked up is that when she appealed to get unbanned is that Microsoft said that gamers found her sexual orientation offensive and that she was going to stay banned.


I think that what happened to Teresa is crime because she was getting all of these messages from these ignorant people called her a f*g and other hateful words and she reported it to Microsoft but nothing was done about it. I don't have an Xbox but I have played games on Xbox live using a friend's Xbox 360 and it is gross. I heard every single insult and hate word known to man while I was playing Halo 3 and these jerks don't get banned. Hell, one time I was over at a friend's house and he was playing that card game Uno on Xbox live with the webcams and some freak flashed his penis to everyone playing with him and he was reported but was not banned.



It seem that Microsoft hates homosexuals or anything related to that because one man who his real name is Richard Gaywood, had his account suspended because of the word gay was in his name and Microsoft did not care if it is his real name. So, what do you think of this matter?

Well you should know the drill by now. blah blah blah I got a package, blah blah blah I got it from a sale, blah blah blah lets see whats inside. Wait a minute, I have a dilemma and I need your help on deciding on something.

I have used up half of my hobby budget this month and this is the problem, I have a 30% bonus card on any games that I trade in for the purchase of any DS game but it will expire on March 1st and the game I want to get it Retro Game Challenge. Starting on March 1st, over 460 Best Buy stores are going to have a 50% off on most of their anime because they are going to make the anime section smaller. On AnimeNewNetwork.com stated that the list of those stores has not been finalized yet meaning that some stores may be added or removed, I know that 2 of the Best Buy stores that are near my house are having the 50% off but the list is not set in stone that they are going to have the sale.

While looking for a shoe, I noticed that I had all of my anime magazines tossed around under my bed. The reason why I buy anime magazines is because I like to support the anime industry in anyway possible. I know that all of the information in these magazines can be found on the internet in a matter of seconds but I like hold it in my hands and the extra goodies that come with it like posters and DVDs.

I personally like the Bounty Hunter Yoko figure and the Konata figure from Wave, I'm not going to preorder them, I'm just going to wait until I find it for a cheaper price. The new 2009 Spring anime season schedule is here. When I looked at new anime that is coming out and it seems that this season is much stronger than the last anime season.

Yesterday Afternoon, I got a call from Books-a-Million that the Manga books I ordered from them arrived to the store and it was really for pick up. While I was there, I got some extra stuff from them.

I bought:

Saint Seiya vol. 25, I was suppose to get vol. 24 also but it was out of stock everywhere because volume 24 was one of the special manga that had the Shonen Jump stickers for that contest they had

Hellsing vol. 7, 8, and 9. I'm waiting for the final volume to come out

Claymore vol. 7 and 8

Kurosagi Corpse delivery service vol. 4 and 5. This manga is not sold at stores and I have to order it.

Not much of a post today but I will have something better tomorrow.
