Otaku Dan: The Life of an Anime Fan

Today I officially start summer vacation. I am free waking up early, driving for about 30 minutes in horrible traffic, and studying like a madman. I am going to have so much fun during this break.

I have a couple of games that I bought but found out that I did not have time to play them, I going to use this free time to beat them. I may also watch Tsukuyomi -Moon Phase- and Persona -trinity soul-. Talking about Persona, I may pick up Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 and 4, I heard a lot of good things about those games.

I'm also going to be working on my Cross Bone Gundam, I want to clean it up a bit to make it look better. Recently got the manga Samurai Legend, I have been wanting to read this manga for about 4 or 5 years. I got for 4.00 USD from the Right Stuf Bargain Bin Blowout sale.

I know that in about a week I'm going to be bored and wanting to go back to college. I may take a summer class if I'm really bored which I don't mind. So, when do you start your summer vacation (for those who are still in college)?

Hobby Link Japan is having a figure sale and these figures have to go NOW, NOW, NOW!!!(damn, I sound like a used car salesman). The figures that are up for sale are from Gurren Lagann, Xenosaga, Shakugan no Shana, and To Heart 2. However most of the figures are not that great looking but you know me, I picked the 5 best figures to for your viewing pleasure.

Yoko Swimwear version was originally 5,200 Yen, it was dropped to 2,600 Yen.

Yomako was originally 5,800 Yen, it was dropped to 4,060 Yen

Shana & Kazumi was originally 7,600 Yen, it was dropped to 3,800 Yen

KOS-MOS Swimwear version was originally 8,800 Yen, it was dropped to 6,160 Yen

I bought the Yoko Swimwear figure from this awesome sale because I preordered her but then I canceled it. I was waiting patiently for the right time and price to buy her and here it is. For those who are interested, HLJ is having other sales that you may want to take advantage. So, who is going to buy was figures at a cheap price?

Well, it's no secret that the Figma stick is far superior that the Fräulein stick when it comes to use. The number one complaint that everyone has about the Fräulein stick it that is is too long and figure ends up looking likes it's floating. I did a simple and great mod to mine Fräulein sticks and I would like to share it.

What you want is that shorten the stick to about the waistline of your figure. WARNING: you only have one chance at doing this and if you screw up, you are going to be out on a Fräulein stick. First insert the appropriate sized drill bit in to the hole on the top of the stick. Slow start drilling until you feel brave enough to crank up the speed to the highest setting. When you are done drilling, cut off the extra plastic and then use a file to clean it up.



I did use two other methods for my other Fräulein sticks. The first method is to cut the stick and drill a new hole but there is a high chance of warping the stick. The second method is to cut the stick in three parts and glue together the part that has the hole and the part of the stick that is used to go into the stand but it may look a little ugly due to the glue residue. Beaches, fun, swims suits and Mio are all in this week's episode of K-On!, come in to see what awesome adventure the girls get into this week.

This week's episode begins when Mio discovered the cassette tape of the light music club before them. Since summer vacation was going to start soon, she decided that the club will have a training camp to improve their skills during the break.

The girls end up staying at one of many Tsumugi's ocean side villa for training. Mio shows Tsumugi the tape and the last light music club is really good compared to the current club. Things don't go according to plan and the girls spend most of the day playing and having fun under the sun.

That must have been really fun what they did, but it seems that must have forgotten something important.......................

The girls made an effort to practice and Yui learned how to bend the strings in her own special way. They started discussing about what they are going to do for the school festival, Ritsu suggested for them to have a maid cafe to exploit Mio's cuteness but the in the end, they are going to perform for the school instead.

can you say moe maid Mio three times fast?

Yui was playing her guitar with fireworks going off behind her, it was visually pleasing but no audio.

This is the closest thing to ever seeing them naked in this anime(doujinshi and fan art does not count)

This week's episode was pretty cool and seeing the characters improve in their art is pretty cool. I don't know it was me but this episode feels that the anime is aware that it's targeted towards otaku with the characters saying moe and the whole maid thing. One more thing, Yui has ADHD. How do I know this, I spoke to my former psychology professor and I told him a have a "cousin" how acts a little wierd and gave him the symptoms. So, did you enjoy this week's episode?

A couple of days ago, I saw the new Anime News Nina comic and it was a little funny. I notice that there is a discussion about this week's comic and a lot of people commented that they found the comic funny and that ; on the girl's shirt was a clever inside joke. A few people that left comments got into this ranting mode about how yaoi paddles annoying and people like that makes all anime fans look bad.

First of all, I'm glad that yaoi paddles are banned from most anime cons because hitting someone you don't know is very stupid because one of two things could happen, the person turns around and kicks your ass or report you to the authorities and you go to jail for assault with a weapon. I know that only a small percentage of anime fans act that way perceived in that comic but some how people who are not anime fans who this think that all anime fans are like that. I had co-workers that gave me weird looks and treat me because I like anime but their only exposure to anime is when they saw some group of idiots running around at the mall playing Naruto.


There are some people out there that make no damn sense and they state that they hate all anime fans even thou they are an anime fan themselves. These people think that anime is this secret society and that only a select few can watch it but since is became popular, it has been tarnished. That has to be the most pants-on-head retarded ideology I have seen in my life. Anime is something that should be shared with one's fellow man and the fandom should grow. I do like anime fandom but as long there is something to be a fan of, there will those creeps. So, what do you think of the current anime fandom?

While studying for my last final exam, I took a small break to look at the new preorders over at Hobby Search. There a lot of nice figure that are going to come out in few months and I list my Favorite figure that everybody should get.

For the first time in months, I have preordered a figure of this list. I know I said that I will never preorder again but it was too hard to pass up. I preorder the Mariya Shido figure, I know that figure is a trap but I like the character and it looks really cute. I'm thinking of getting the deluxe version of that cute Nia figure, she looks great in that swimsuit. So, what are you going to preorder from this list or are you pasting it up?
