Figure Shelf Savers

Recently, all my figure shelves are full. I have been looking at some nice display cases and shelves over at Ikea and The Container Store. I would have bought some new shelves right away but my expensive college books come first. I noticed that I can make extra space by pushing figures to the back; however, I can't see them.

I got the idea of making a stand for the figures in the back. I was originally going to make the stand out of wood, but it's too heavy. Then I thought of using cardboard, but it would look ugly and I don't trust cardboard. Then it hit me, CD jewel cases. They look good. They are sturdy but light and, I have a ton of them that I don't use.

Might as well use them for something.

Now that's what you call space saving.

Now that I'm using those "stands", my entire collection is taking up half the space. If you are wondering, it took about 120 CD jewel cases. One more thing, I'm opening my blogroll and if I'm on your blogroll, tell me.

Fall 09 Anime Season

WOW, only 4 weeks into the 2009 summer anime season and the first version of the fall schedule has been announced. There are a lot of newcomers and a lot of old faces coming back to either please the fans or to be greatly disappointing.

Going to Watch:
Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu: Purezza
I adored the first season and I'm glad that it's coming back.

Queen's Blade: Heir to the Throne
I must be a glutton for punishment. I'm really doing it for Tomoe, Airi, and Nanael(I like the boobies).

Romance of the Three Kingdoms
I have always wanted to read the original story that so many anime, manga, and video games are based off of.

Kampfer

The plot sounds very interesting.

Everything else does seem interesting like Fairy Tail and Nyan Koi,! but I'll wait for reviews first. So, what are you going to watch this fall season?

P.S. Kararu's post was rescheduled for tomorrow.

Your Parents and Anime

I discovered something interesting the other day. The other day, my mom wanted to use my laptop to check her email and I told her it was okay if she wanted to use all day. When she was done, she forgot to close a web page. That web page was an Amazon search result on the DVDs for the classic shojo anime, Candy Candy.

I confronted her about the mistake she made and she tried to deny the truth ,but she could not. I asked her when she started watching anime. She replied saying since the late 70's, but she stopped watching when I was born. She told me that the last anime series she watched was Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu and that her favorite anime was Grave of the Fireflies. I asked her why she hid it for so long and she told me that she did not want to feel that she forced her kids to like the same things as her. Now I know why she was angry when my uncle introduce me to anime when I was 6 year's old. I joked with her that maybe being an anime fan is genetic and she laughed.

I have friends who their parent hate anime because they don't understand it or they treat it as it was a phase. I feel very lucky that my mom does understand my hobby but there are some things that she does not get, like moe and the big boobs. So, what do your parents think about anime?

My Picks of WonFes 09

Now that the Wonder Festival is over, I decided to show everyone my favorite figure from this year's WonFes. All of the pictures you are going to see in this post, I found them at Figure/GK.

As a Touhou fan, this Reimu Figma figure is a must get

This is a really cute figure of Yui by Alter. I wonder if Good Smile Company is going to release their own version of Yui.

Wave is going to be releasing more beauties in sexy swimsuits. I'm so going to buy the Nahoha figure because it's a cheaper alternative to the Good Smile Company version.

Mio and Yui look sexy, yummy.

This has to be the best figure at this year's WonFes. The Miku VN02 figure looks amazing, good job Max Factory. I don't know why but I get the feeling that this figure is going to be very expensive.

So, what are you favorite figures from this year's WonFes?

Tired and Other Stuff

Today is going to be a personal blog post, which I have not done in a while. I'm really sorry that I missed a post yesterday. I was way too tired to do a thing. For the last few days I have been helping out an elderly couple move to a new home. They originally offered to pay me, but I refused because I was not doing it for the money. I was doing it out of the kindness of my heart. Bad choice. They took advantage of that by making me dig out 20 small palm trees, drive the trees to the new house, and replanting them. My everything hurts and I think I had a heat stroke.

If you are bored, just look at the pretty girl below
I also bought my books for the upcoming Fall semester and it was painful. I ended up spending about $400 USD just on books. One of them was $200 USD. With the extra money I had left I went on a small shopping spree. I bought about 3 figures and a few DVDs. I also preordered the U.S. version of the Lucky Star OVA DVD. I got it for $11 USD over at Right Stuf.

WOW, this was a boring post. I will have something a little more exciting and some news on some updates that are coming soon.

Leaning Figure: Final Solution

Look who it is again with the leaning problem. I have this leaning problem with this figure since May. Last week, I did try to fix her with metal wires wrapped around the ankles to hold her in place. I'm tired of this figure leaning forward and falling off my shelf. I decided to do some figure surgery.

Tools:
Drill
Appropriate sized drill bit
Needle nose pliers
Hot water
Ice cubes
Small hammer (not in the picture)

What I did was that I drilled the bottom of her foot around the area where the ankle meets. When you start drilling, do not go all out. Start slowly and increase the speed little by little.

Remember to soak her legs in the hot water so the PVC become very soft.

This is the small metal rod I inserted to her.

After I did the drilling, I softly hammered the metal rod in the hole.

With a little bit of cement to cover up the hole and paint, the bottom looks good as new.

This is the last time I'm modding this figure. If I see her lean one more time, I'm blasting her out of a cannon. I should have done this the first time I saw her leaning.

New Computer

W00t! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh sh*t son, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! WHAT, WHAT, WHAT, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Well, now that I have that out of my system, I finally got a new computer. I waited to buy my new computer around the end of the month because that is when all of the back to school deals appear. Yesterday, my parents told me that they would pay for it as a present. They thought it was ironic that a person who is majoring in computer programming did not own a computer. What I got was a Dell Inspiron 15.

Stats:
Glossy 15.6" wide-screen display
Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T4200
2 GB ram
160 GB hard drive
Integrated Intel Graphic Media Accelerator 4500MHD
Windows Vista Home Premiun (ew)

This computer looks so sexy but not quite yet

Now it's perfect

I know that my new computer is running Vista, but there is some hope. Microsoft is giving out a free upgrade to Windows 7 to people who buy a new computer that is running Vista Home Premium after the date of June 26. I'm still downloading the programs and other "exercising" material I need.

Figure Base

When it comes to figures, 99% of them will bring a display base. These bases will do one of two things. Either be a visual ascetic or it will just help the figure stand up straight. The one thing that figure collectors will worry about is how much space the base will take up.

In my opinion, I like bases that that are big enough to display the figure on. I really don't like when I buy a figure and find out that display base is way too big for the figure. I feel that a big base is nothing but trouble. It takes up a lot of important space and all of that extra plastic could have been used for something else.

that is a big base

Good base: The figure fits fine and it does not take up that much space.

Bad base: It's too big and it takes up needed space.

I know that I can get rid of the display base that is there just for decoration, but in a way, you are a forced to use it. Let me use my Kallen figure for example. I stored away that figure's base. After some time went by, her knees started getting scratched up. I did not want my figure to get damaged, so I had to use that base again. I think that I'm going to either buy some smaller bases over at E2046 or make my own.

Nami Photo Shoot

This is my Nami Version 2 figure and this happens to be the oldest figure I own. I remember seeing this figure about 2 years ago. The first thing that came to mind when I saw her was that I wanted her. The second thing that came to mind was this figure is a cast off. I made it my mission to find this figure online, but she was sold out or she was being sold for a very expensive price. After learning that this figure was nearly impossible to find at an affordable price, I gave up. However, on the first day of Metrocon, I found her for around $20 USD.

Just look at those curves on that 3

great tattoo, ugly seamline

This figure is (somewhat of) a cast off

Yoko and Nia Gallery

I'm really tired today to write a post. I was driving for about a good 7-8 hours, which means my arms, legs, neck, and back are in pain. For the time being, I give you a Yoko and Nia gallery for you to enjoy.
