Don't Need a DSLR Camera to Take Great Pictures

For the last 6 months, I have been looking at DSLR cameras. I wanted to upgrade to one because I wanted to have higher quality pictures. After doing research, the cheapest decent camera will cost $500 U.S. dollars and that does not include various lens and other important accessories that I may need. Then I noticed, I have great pictures for someone who does not use a DSLR.

I learned how to use my camera that I have owned for the last 2 years. It took me sometime to figure out what are the best setting for my camera but it was worth it.

When I got Photoshop, it did wonders. I could now fix the levels and color balance of my pictures. The was this how-to-guide on fixing bad lighting in Photoshop, its awesome.

I will someday get a DSLR camera but after my current camera dies on me. I don't need another expense at the time.

Loli Gallery

While on my IRC chat room, I decided to have a little game with Marmar. We needed to find 25 loli pictures that are not sexual in nature and that includes pantie shots. This was the hardest thing I have ever done. I ended up giving up after searching over 200 pages in Gelbooru under the loli tag and only found 20 pictures. My soul is in pain after seeing such tasteless pictures, I'm going to go cry now.

License This: My Ladies

Today in License This, I decided to cover an anime and a manga. The similarity between these two, they are of the ecchi variety. I will be talking about Ladies versus Butlers! and My Balls.

The image below is from the ero-manga, Nosewasure by Shiwasu no Okina.
Ladies versus Butlers! is romantic comedy set is a special private school that is divided by social class, servant-ed and upper-ed. The servant-ed students are training to become maids and butlers. The upper-ed students are high class aristocrats and 99% of these students are female. The story follows Akiharu Hino, a servent-ed student who looks like a street thug but has a heart of gold. He pretty much gets himself into sexy and funny situations. Did I forgot to mention that this is also a harem anime.

The one company I see picking up this anime is Media Blasters. This is something right up their alley.

My Balls is an interesting manga, there's a war between heaven and hell. An angel seals away the queen of terror into crystal ball. However, there was a freak accident and the queen of terror was sealed into the right testicle of Satou Konta, he has no girlfriend and he's also a virgin. Satou must not ejaculate for 30 days or all humanity as we know it is doomed. The lesser devil, Elyse makes it her mission to release her queen from her prison by seducing Satou. But, Elyse has no experience is that department.

This manga is really perverted to the point of borderline porn. I feel dirty after reading a chapter or two. The one company I would see picking up this manga is Tokyo Pop.

So, what are your opinions of these series?

Evangelion 2.22: You Can (Not) Advance Review

I finally got the chance to watch Evangelion 2.22: You Can (Not) Advance. This film received quite a lot praise from fans and critics when it was first released in theaters. I really was trying to ignore the hype around this film and to go with my own judgment. Evangelion 2.22 is a masterpiece.

This review will not contain spoilers, it is more of an analysis.
In Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone, it was pretty much the first 6 episodes of the original series condense to a 90 minute film. There was nothing wrong with that but for a fan of the original show who have viewed it over 25 times, it was a little boring. Evangelion 2.22 is a complete revamp of the original series with brand new material. 2.22 feels like an alternate universe that branched out to it own thing.

The character development is vastly improved than the original series. The character's personal growth is somewhat realistic, so far. Shinji is portrayed as a normal kid who does not runaway from fear but is angry that he is being used as a weapon. Gendo is a little less cold towards Shinji and the reason why he does it, is to cope with the painful lost of his wife. Rei is more human but suffers from loneliness.

The battles are greatly improved. I'm glad that the problem of here's Angel of the week battle is gone. The battles in this film look like the characters have a slim to no chance of survival. And the Eva take a lot of damage.

I will say it, the last 40 minutes of this film is cinematic perfection. I really would like to talk about how great the ending is but, I don't want to spoil it for those who have not watched it. Let me just say that I was trembling and breathing hard when the film ended. If you're an anime fan, you need to watch this movie as soon as possible to witness pure greatness.

Anime Back on TV?

Back in 2004, anime was airing on multiple television channels. The one channel that was on top was Cartoon Network with the Toonami block. On Saturday nights they had 3 solid hours of anime. When the late night came around the Adult Swim block started with 2 to 3 more hours of anime. 2004 was consider to be the peak of anime on television. Few years have passed and only Adult Swim and SyFy are the ones airing anime once a week at late night.

However, there is still some hope for anime to be big on television like it was before. NickToons, a subsidiarity channel to Nickelodeon, started airing Dragon Ball Kai, Monday through Friday. The original Dragon Ball Z was the gateway drug for many anime fans in the past. For DBK to be on television is a big thing because if this show draws people to view it, Nickelodeon may start getting broadcasting rights for other anime series.

I'm also glad that there are anime only channels such as The Anime Network and Funimation Channel. I'm hoping that more television channels show more quality anime. So, what are your opinions on this matter?

My Top 5 Super Robots

I have always wanted to do this post. I really enjoy super robot anime from the 70's and 80's. These type of shows tend to be over the top with the robot be the main star of the show. I wanted to shared my top 5 favorite Super Robots from the 70's and 80's.

5) Combattler V from Combattle V. The reason why I like this robot is because of the opening theme song to the anime. I know it's a silly reason, but opening is very catchy. Also, I really find the Choudenji YoYo, to be badass weapon.

4) Getter Robo from Getter Robo. I really like the concept for Getter Robo. It is made up of 3 jets and when combined, it can become 1 of 3 different type super robots, Getter-1, Getter-2, and Getter-3. Getter-1 is the most popular form, it looks badass.

3) Steel Jeeg from Steel Jeeg. Jeeg is an interesting super robot because its more human than robot. Hiroshi Shiba was horribly injured and his father saved his life by turning him into a cyborg. Hiroshi transforms into the head of Jeeg and combines with the parts that are shot out of a plane. Only in a super robot anime something like that happens.

2) RX-78-2 from Mobile Suit Gundam. Before anyone starts leaving comments in correcting me that Mobile Suit Gundam is not super robot, I know but its my list. The design is so simple for RX-78-2, but at the same time it is captivating for me.

1) Ideon from Space Runaway Ideon. This was to be one of the strongest super robot I have seen, Ideon can destroy planets as if it was nothing and in the final movie, it destroys the entire universe.

Kicking it Old School: Otaku no Video

I have decided to make Kicking it Old School, a weekly post instead of bi-weekly. In celebration, today I will cover my second most favorite OVA of all time, Otaku no Video.

Otaku no Video is divided in 2 parts, 1982 and 1985. In 1982, we meet Ken Kubo, a freshmen in college. He is also part of tennis club. One day, while Kubo was out drinking, he encounters an old high school friend of his, Tanaka. He's an otaku. Because of Tanaka, Kubo is sucked into the world of anime, manga, doujinshi, cosplay, and science fiction. Slowly but surely, he become an otaku and decided that he will be the Otaking, the king of all otaku.

In 1985, Kubo and Tanaka start their own figure company. At first they start by selling their homemade figure kits via mail order catalogs. Then they open their first store and before you know it, their figure company becomes world famous. However, tragedy strikes in the form of corporate takeover. Both Kubo and Tanaka kicked out of the company and go their separate ways. Many years have passed and Kubo and Tanaka get back together to start an animation company. Long story short, Kubo opens Otakuland, an otaku themed amusement park and finally becomes the Otaking.

In between segments, there are these live action short call Portrait of an Otaku. In these shorts, there are fake interviews with different types of otaku. Some of them are humorous but there are some that feel too real.

The best way to describe Otaku no Video, it's a time capsule. It shows small examples of how it was like to be an otaku during the 80s and early 90s. Older anime fans who watch this will probably have a flood memories come to them because they lived during those times.

Sono Hanabira Ni Kuchizuke Wo Review

A fairly short eroge, by a doujin circle known as Fuguriya. There are many more eroge in this series but this is a review of the first one.

Art is done by ペこ (Peko) who also did the art for the Mayoi Neko Overrun light novels, as well as many other eroges.

This story follows Nanami Oda, who has had a crush on Yuna Matsubara, her sempai, since the first day of school when she helped fix a tear in Nanami's skirt. Nanami joins the school's environmental protection committee just to be closer to Yuna who heads the committee. After a meeting Nanami forgets her gym uniform in the room and comes back to get it when she finds Yuna... ummm... doing something strange while sniffing it. Take a wild guess what happens next.

Yuna is to the left Nanami on the right.

Anyway, like I said this is a very short eroge (about 2 hours) with nothing much to the story except hot lesbian sex. Choices in this game are only right or wrong choices. There are no different branching story routes or anything like that. Choosing too many wrong choices will only make your game end early. A little hint: If your game ends after the pee scene, you did something wrong. Music is forgettable, just very generic visual novel crap. I turned it off and listened to my own while I read through. This eroge's strong point is its art, which if your gonna be a game that focuses on hentai, only better be pretty damn good.

Story 5 out of 10 (It's a hentai game! It isn't supposed to have a good story)
Art 8/10
Music 4/10
Voice Acting 8/10 (Kinda would like to know the girl's voice actors. I'll look into it. If any of you know please tell.)
Overall 6.5/10

So if you like your visual novels more concentrated on drama than non stop yuri sex, stay away from this. If you're a fan of kinky yuri, this is for you. I'd fall into the first category. Personally I'm not a fan of yuri hentai but I do like yuri drama anime/manga. An unofficial translation patch can be found here. As to how to pirate the game, you're on your own. Although the game is only $20 USD if you feel like taking down your jolly roger for once. Can be purchased NSFW here NSFW

I do really like this pic tho. dawww
