Box sets depending on what is included on the single volumes such as extra items.

After the fall of Geneon I think a lot of fans feel safer with box sets. Personally my favorite way to buy anime is a box set that has only Japanese audio and English subtitles, Those are the best for me.

I'm a sucker for Limited Editions, so I usually buy the individual volumes. If there's no real advantage to buying individual volumes though, then I'll usually just get the box set and save money.

It's not much of a surprise because it's something fans have been wanting for a while. Single volume prices are ridiculous, and so were the boxsets from ADV and such.<BR/><BR/>FUNimation had realized this; I mean, look at where ADV is at right now =/

For as long as I can remember, FLCL (Furi Kuri), a 6 episode series by Gainax, has never been sold for under 50 bucks. It's unreal.<BR/><BR/>I'm usually happy buying Hong Kong (26 eps on 3 discs) versions if I choose to buy anime...which isn't often. I generally just watch new series as they air in Japan.

Well it depends what there is in the single volumes. Like in Suzumiya and Lucky Star, the single volumes are packed with extras so I brought those. On the other hand if the only extras those single volume have are credit-less ending/opening and character design, I'd rather just buy the box set that comes later on.
