Building Master Grade RX-78-2 Part 2

here it is, part 2 of me building my Master Grade RX-78-2 Gundam -O.Y.W. 79 Animation Colors- version. In part one, I pretty much built the Gundam itself. Now I'm going to finish it by building the weapons and adding the decals.

I quickly put together the weapons. For now, I'm not going to paint or ink them. I'll do it some other day.

Its time to apply the decals. This is the one thing I dread to do when I build model kits. Decals are the most delicate things in the entire model kit.

Soaking it in water first to soften it up.

Now applying it to RX-78-2. Then peeling it is pretty difficult. I have to do it very slowly and very gentle or it with come out screw up.

Final product!

RX-78-2 come out very nice. Building this model kit took me about 16 hours to complete.

I'm really happy with the final out come. I actually started to look for my next Gunpla that I will build. As of now, I have narrowed it down to Master Grade Unicorn Gundam, Master Grade RX-79(G) Gundam Ground Type, and Master Grade Exia Gundam. So, do you build Gundam model kits and if you do, what was the last one you built?

Building Master Grade RX-78-2 Part 1

Master Grade RX-78-2 Gundam -O.Y.W. 79 Animation Colors- version is the first Gunpla I have built in over 2 years. To me, this is a test to see if I still got it.

Laying out my tools, it feels nostalgic doing this. If you are wondering why there's a tooth brush, its to remove any dust on the parts from sanding.

I always sharpen my tools before doing any cutting.

Sorting out everything before I start. Just looks at those sexy runners.

After 6 hours of putting it together and doing the panel lines, it starting to look nice.

I'm at the 9 hour mark at this point. I was doing the panel inking on the legs. While on the subject of the legs, I had an issue. The inner frame on the legs had these pistons. For some reason, the front pistons would get stuck and it would limit mobility. I pretty much got rid of the front pistons on both legs.

12 hours later, it's complete. It's really beautiful.
I did finish building RX-78-2 but, I'm still not done building it. I need build the shield, Hyper Bazooka, Beam Rifle, and Hammer. I also have to add the decals to RX-78-2 to finish this project.

Returning to Gunpla 3

It has been almost 2 year since I've built a Gundam model kit. I actually made 2 separate posts on returning to model kit building. I was never able to follow through with it because I would be too busy or when I was going to buy it, I got distracted by some pretty figures. I've learned from those two mistakes and I ordered a brand new Gundam model kit.

The model kit that I will build is Master Grade RX-78-2 Gundam -O.Y.W. 79 Animation Colors- version with the clear parts kit. I feel that I should have started out with a High Grade since it has been 2 year. I know that my skills as a model kit build are rusty, but I know I can do it.

I personally enjoy model kit building because it helps me relax. I cannot wait until Rx-78-2 is in my hands. I will be doing progress posts due to I'm not going to do it in one sitting. Before, I could do that but college and working on my site is more important.

HoiHoi-San

Now that I'm free from college for the next 4 weeks, regular daily posting will be back. A few days ago I built a HoiHoi-San model kit and it was an interesting experience. I would have to say that HoiHoi-San is targeted towards figure collector and model kit builders. She is very cute but a little bit of a changed when building her.

You notice that I did not have pictures of her using a gun. The thing is that I deleted the gunslinger program that comes preinstalled. Then I modified her left arm and installed Cobra program.

This attack is only for big insests.

She has been so much help keeping my room clean.

Pretty strong for her size.

My HoiHoi

Well, I finally got myself a HoiHoi-San model kit. After reading the manga and her cuteness made me get her. She happens to be the first model kit I have bought and build in over a year. I was going to get Master Grade Exia Gundam but HoiHoi-San was much cheaper.

My setup is ready, lets start.

5 hours later, looks good so far. If you think this model kit is difficult, it's not. I like to clean and sand way every since part with great detail. If it was about speed, I would have been done in 30 minutes.

I have never told this to anyone before but the one thing I hate about building model kit is the mess. When I cut a part out of the runner, the nubs fly all over the place.

This kit is very easy for those who have never build a model kit before. The only painting that is required are the weapons and the USB cover. This kit does bring eye lash and eye brow decals but you don't need to use them. That is only for those who repaint the entire kit.

I had a little accident. However, a little bit of super glue fixed it up.

With this kit, I had to do some modding. This is the part that holds the eye shells under the face. It is very stiff and some force is needed to pull the eye shells.

I cut off the bottom nubs and sanded away about 1/4 of the top nub. Now, I can remove the shell with ease.

10 and half hours later and she is complete. She is such a cutey............

Now start cleaning
I want to get rid of the glossiness on her face and limbs but I don't have topcoat at the moment.I will be doing a photo shoot of her later on this week.

Returning to Gunpla 2

It was about two months ago. I made a post on how I wanted to start building Gundam model kits(Gunpla for short) again. I started displaying my old kits and I dusted them for motivation. But due to college(to be more specific my C++ class), I don't have that much free time like I used to have. Then I noticed something. Gunpla is very helpful to me.

I was asking myself, why do I feel stressed when it comes to school work? That got me thinking and I realized that Gunpla is a great stress reliever for me. Back when I was building them, I would focus that negative energy to make something awesome. I know that I have to cut time from other parts in my hobby to build a model kit and I'm willing to do it. (I'm sorry Persona 4 and sleeping.)

I decided to get 1/144 HGUC Kampfer. It is so sexy for a model kit.

At the moment, I have a tight budget because I'm saving my money to redecorate my room. I'm going to have to dip my fingers into the redecorating jar because I really need to get rid of that stress. So, how do you get rid of stress?

Returning to Gunpla

Yesterday, while cleaning my closet, I encountered my Gundam model kits(Gunpla for short). A few months back, I retired my model kits because I wanted to use the shelf space for my figures. When I was looking at them, I remembered the good times I had building them. For some strange reason, my passion for model building came back with a vengeance. I noticed that the top of my dresser was the perfect place to proudly display them once again.

I'm pretty much using the same CD case method that I used for my figure to display my Gunpla.

The rest of my Gunpla are chilling with Horo on my bookcase.

This is my Gundam shrine. All I need is a couple of lit candles and burning incense.

At the moment, I'm shopping around for a model kit to build. I'm currently looking at 1/144 scale HGUC Nu Gundam and 1/144 scale HGUC Kampfer, but I want to get them at a good price. So, do any of you build model kits of any type or do you find it difficult?

Gundam Fix Up

For the last few days, I have been fixing up my Cross Bone Gundam. For some reason this master grade model kit's joints and sockets became loose in the matter of months. I also notice that the top coat I used on it got ugly after sometime. I first disassemble it and lightly sanded away the layer of top coat.

After a while the right leg peg became very loose compared to the other parts. I fixed it by applying white glue and letting dry, so when I insert the peg back into the socket, it will have a snug fit.

A few days later, it's complete.

the one thing I did not like about this model kit is the gun shown below, the crossbow design is a little bit of a turn off for me. I ended up removing the white parts and it looks like a pretty cool shotgun.

I bought some white fabric and made it look like the poncho that resembles the one that the Kai version of this model kit has. It looks too clean, what would be perfect to make it look worn out?

This will do the job

It looks badass

I while back I said that I would like to mod a Gundam model kit. After doing this, I decided that I will be modding this Cross Bone Gundam to give it the battle damaged look.
